Tanmay Dixit is an evolutionary biologist focussing on the coevolution between brood parasites and their hosts.
Academic interests
Tanmay Dixit鈥檚 academic interests include:
- The coevolution between brood parasites and their hosts
- The mechanistic constraints on evolutionary optimality
- How mechanisms influence evolution.
Degrees obtained
- BA, Cantab.
- MA, Cantab.
Awards and prizes
- Society for the Study of Evolution Research Excellence Award: Rosemary Grant Advanced Award 2021.
Biography
Tanmay's research lies at the interface between evolutionary biology, sensory biology, and applied mathematics, and combines theory, analytical techniques, and experimental fieldwork. He conducts fieldwork in Zambia to study coevolution in the wild.
Tanmay鈥檚 ongoing projects seek to understand optimality in the natural world, how mechanistic constraints can prevent optimality from being realised, and how mechanisms coevolve with each other.
He is also an Associate Fellow of the HEA and a Research Associate at the University of Cape Town.
Other interests
Classical music, racquet sports, wildlife-watching, and cryptic crosswords.
