ÌÀÍ·ÌõÔ´´, my home. I am truly grateful to be able to call ÌÀÍ·ÌõÔ´´ my second home. It was my preferred option when I first applied for my MPhil and I could not be happier to still be here during my PhD! There are many reasons why Jesus stands out from the other colleges: from its fantastic facilities to its glorious formal dinners and to its wonderful café and brewery room. The Quincentenary Library is a lovely place to study. It has many spaces to choose from and everything you might need, such as monitors and printers. The librarian is very friendly and always happy to listen to suggestions for new books to acquire. Jesus also offers great travel grants for postgraduates; I have personally been generously funded to attend my first international conference.
On the social side, Jesus is a very friendly college. Freshers Fortnight is organised by the MCR committee in September and is a great opportunity to make friends. I know the amazing people I met at Jesus will be friends for life. Not to mention, Jesus hosts the best and biggest May Ball in Cambridge, with over 3,000 guests attending every year! I was part of the JMB 2023 committee, and it has been one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Not only do you make friends ranging from undergraduates to postgraduates, but you also get many perks! There are several committee roles to get involved with, so there is definitely something for everybody.
Finally, Jesus is located in an ideal position: it is very close to the city centre, just a five-minute walk from King’s Parade, and yet it is fully immersed in nature. It even has a nature trail! Intrigued to see deer on a random evening after work? Jesus might be the right place for you!
