Transforming the future? Anticipation in the 21st Century
On 19 October 2018, the Intellectual Forum was pleased to host one of the world鈥檚 leading authorities on the theory and practice of using the future to change what people see and do, to discuss his recent path-defining book, Transforming the Future (Routledge Open Access 2018).
Miller has worked as a senior manager in the Ontario public service and at OECD in Paris, and in 2012 he was appointed Head of Foresight at UNESCO. Drawing on this experience and his book, he explored questions like: What is the future? How is it imagined and its social content decided? How have practices of foresight and projection developed, and who is authorised to plan for the future? Can the future be made more democratic?
For those who were unable to attend, a copy of the book can be acquired .
