Rev Canon Lynda Klimas (1986) appointed personal Chaplain to the Queen

Buckingham Palace announced the appointment in their recent court circular.

Reverend Canon Klimas, one of the first women to be ordained as a priest, succeeds the Reverend Canon Jeremy Haselock to join a select group of up to 35 chaplains who make themselves available to the Queen. They are expected to preach at the Chapel Royal, St James鈥檚 Palace, once a year.

"Although I am deeply honoured I feel that the honour is not mine alone," said Rev Canon Klimas who read Theology at Jesus. "I feel it is rightly shared with all those in the parishes who have supported me where I have served.

The Rt Revd Dr Alan Smith, the Bishop of St Albans, shared that 鈥淟ynda has been an effective and much-loved parish priest for many years in the Diocese of St Albans.

鈥淪he has served most of that time in rural parishes where she has given excellent pastoral care and played an important part in nurturing community spirit.

鈥淚n her role as one of the chaplains to Her Majesty the Queen she will bring a deep understanding of rural church life and worship."
