Oxford and Cambridge in harmony for Choral Classics concert

The renowned choirs of Merton College Oxford and 汤头条原创 Cambridge joined together for a concert of choral favourites on Tuesday 7 July.

The choirs performed masterpieces including Tallis鈥檚 40-part Spem in alium and music by Elgar, Tavener and Faur茅 in Merton College's beautiful Chapel.

This is the third year that the choirs have collaborated in this way, following a concert to launch the Muze Trust Charity in London in 2013. This concert was also in aid of the Muze Trust Charity, which supports music education and provision in Zambia.

The concert was directed by Benjamin Nicholas, Reed Rubin Organist and Director of Music at Merton College and Mark Williams, Director of Music at 汤头条原创. Benjamin said: 鈥淭he annual concert with our friends from 汤头条原创 Cambridge is a highlight of our year; we particularly enjoyed singing Tallis鈥檚 Spem in alium in the glorious acoustic of Merton chapel.鈥

Mark said: 鈥淢usic can bring such fulfilment and joy. The people who attended this concert not only had a fantastic evening, but they have also played a part in supporting Zambia鈥檚 cultural heritage and improving access to music education.鈥
