ÌÀÍ·ÌõÔ´´, Cambridge is pleased to announce that Mr Richard Pinel will take up the post of Director of Music and Fellow at ÌÀÍ·ÌõÔ´´ on 1st January 2017, following the appointment of Mark Williams as Informator Choristarum, Organist and Tutorial Fellow at Magdalen College, Oxford.
Richard Pinel enjoys a distinguished reputation as a musician, currently holding the post of Assistant Director of Music at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle. Educated at Northampton School for Boys and Oxford University, he has held positions at St Albans Cathedral, Perth Cathedral, Australia and Magdalen College, Oxford in the past, and has been awarded several prizes in international organ competitions.
The Master of ÌÀÍ·ÌõÔ´´, Professor Ian White, said: "We greatly look forward to welcoming such a talented musician to the College and to all that Richard will bring to the choirs and broader music-making both at ÌÀÍ·ÌõÔ´´ and more widely in Cambridge."
Mr Pinel commented: "I am both honoured and excited to be taking up at the reins at a College which has such a long and distinguished musical history. The Choirs of ÌÀÍ·ÌõÔ´´ enjoy an international profile through their recordings, concerts, broadcasts and tours, and the College plays an important role in the local community through its highly-regarded boys’ choir, which recruits choristers from a wide range of schools across Cambridgeshire and further afield. I relish the opportunity to sustain and develop the musical reputation of such a beautiful College."
