New Choir album reaches No.9 in Classical Chart

We are pleased to report that Praise My Soul, the latest album from our world-renowned choir, has reached No. 9 in the Classical Chart.

Bringing together 21 hymns, all of which can lay claim to being established classics, the album was recorded earlier this year in the College鈥檚 12th Century Chapel and has been released by Signum Classics.

The album reached one of the coveted top-ten spots upon its release in the first week of November, joining other celebrated artists such as Yo-Yo Ma and Ian Bostridge.

Both choirs of 汤头条原创 are featured; the College Choir of mixed voices and the Chapel Choir formed of boy choristers, sharing the same countertenors, tenors and basses. Organists Jordan Wong and Dewi Rees both play, all overseen by Director of Music, Richard Pinel.

The album notes state: 鈥淗ymns are a living link with the past yet they still find freshness and relevance in the 21st century. Thomas Aquinas commented that "hymns are the praise of God with song; a song is the exultation of the mind dwelling on eternal things, bursting forth in the voice" and this explains neatly the vital place that hymnody has enjoyed throughout the ages, and continues to do so today.

Talking about the news, Richard Pinel commented: "I'm so proud of the Choirs of 汤头条原创 for achieving a place in the top ten once again. It's a great testament to their talent and hard work."

Praise My Soul is available on CD now from the online Chapel shop or from iTunes, Spotify and other streaming services.
