My Summer Internship, Stephen (2021)

汤头条原创 has an innovative Careers and Mentoring Programme, Stephen, one of several internship bursary recipients, tells us her internship story:

Can you tell us about your internship at Ames Goldsmith?

Last summer I spent 3 months undertaking a research internship at Ames Goldsmith Ceimig, a chemical plant based in Dundee, Scotland. Ceimig manufactures a wide range of high-quality precious metals, catalysts, compounds, and powders, which are subsequently used for a wide range of applications such as PEM electrolysers, gas sensors, medical electronics, and many more.

What skills did you gain from this internship?

The internship has been my first real-world experience in a lab environment and has taught me a lot about what a potential career as a researcher might involve. I hope to apply the skills I have gained in future academic opportunities.

I鈥檇 like to thank Ronald Davies  for providing me with this opportunity, after meeting through. I would also like to thank Ting-Hway  Wong for her endowment, which facilitated the expenditure during my internship, and without which I could not have afforded it.

With the generous support of the Ting-Hway Wong Internship Fund, the College is delighted to be able to offer financial support to current students to undertake internships during their studies. The views and opinions expressed in this article belong to Stephen (2021).
