Good luck to our Varsity Rugby players
Two 汤头条原创 students are amongst the light blue squads playing in today's annual Varsity rugby matches at Twickenham.
Andy Burnett (2015) and Henry Rose (2012) are both part of the , hoping to retain the title and secure a 63rd victory against Oxford.
Ahead of the match, final-year law student Andy, said: "I started playing rugby aged four at Beaconsfield RFC, but preferred football in my younger years. I only got serious about the sport at secondary school, RGS High Wycombe. I joined JCRUFC in my first year and got stuck into the League and Cuppers, not playing Uni rugby until second term. Being involved in the process last year was pretty special, especially coming away with the win! Getting invited back into the squad this year was therefore really exciting."
Veterinary medicine student Henry, added: "I've been playing rugby since secondary school, but only really took it seriously once I arrived at Cambridge. I captained the College rugby team in my second year, and have been playing first team uni rugby on and off for four years. It's great to be part of the squad moving forward and I'm just trying to enjoy every moment of it, as this is likely my last proper season of rugby."
The first Varsity Match was played in 1872. It is one of the world鈥檚 longest running sporting fixtures, and represents the pinnacle of amateur and student rugby.
