Alumnus' Arctic swim in new documentary

A new documentary shows College alumnus Lewis Pugh (1999), UN Patron of the Oceans, swim one kilometre through -0.7 degree Arctic waters as part of his campaign to protect the region.

The documentary will air on Sky News at 9pm GMT tonight (20 December) - Freeview channel 233, Sky channel 501, Virgin channel 603 . Sky has also published a  about Lewis' swim along the Arctic ice edge.

Dubbed the 'human polar bear', Lewis was appointed as the first Patron of the Oceans by the in 2013. He is an ocean advocate, a maritime lawyer and an endurance swimmer. He was the first person to complete a long-distance swim in every ocean of the world, and frequently swims in vulnerable ecosystems to campaign for the creation of Marine Protected Areas - the equivalent of National Parks in the sea.
