Shrikrishna Chandra Welinkar, Lieutenant (A), Royal Air Force

Shrikrishna Chandra Welinkar joined the College in Lent Term 1915 and had attended St Xavier’s High School in Bombay.

Born in Bombay, India on 24 October 1893

Died, in German hands, of wounds received in action: 30 June 1918

There is little information about Welinkar in the College archives and what we do have comes from the Biographical notes on ÌÀÍ·ÌõÔ´´ members compiled by Freddie and Muriel Brittain.

It seems that Welinkar initially joined, the 3rd Imperial Lancers as a Lieutenant and was a member of the staff of General H H Prince Scindia. He then went on to join the Royal Air Force as an aeroplane officer.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records that he was injured on 27 June 1918, and died of his wounds on 30 June 1918.
