Goodwin Howard Thomas Barnes, Captain, Royal Air Force
Goodwin Howard Thomas Barnes should have joined the College as a History exhibitioner in October 1916, but he joined the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) instead.

Died of pneumonia on 29 October 1918
Goodwin went on to be one of the first to serve in the Royal Air Force, after the merger between the RNAS and the Royal Flying Corps. He is not listed in The War List of the University of Cambridge but is on the College War Memorial and there is also a short obituary for him in the ÌÀÍ·ÌõÔ´´ Cambridge Society Annual Report 1919. The obituary provides little further information other than to say that he attended Haileybury College before joining the RNAS and that he was mentioned in despatches. (p. 21)
