Fred Alford鈥檚 research interests are in mathematical general relativity, specifically looking at solutions to wave equations on collapsing black hole backgrounds.

Biography

Fred Alford is a mathematician applying the study of partial differential equations and differential manifolds to problems within general relativity. Specifically, he looks at the problem of Hawking radiation, and how to apply modern mathematical techniques to this problem.

He also enjoys teaching, including being a Bye-Fellow at both Jesus and Lucy Cavendish Colleges across mathematics and physics.

Other interests

Badminton, trumpet, and martial arts.
